In patients with reconstructions on endosseuos implants, mucosal dehiscences in the zone of esthetic priority are a frequently seen problem and can impair the patient’s self-confidence. Unfortunately, only few data regarding re-treatment are available in the literature and most of them are based on case reports and experiences of the clinicians.
It is the goal of the present lecture to summarize the most important influencing factors for surgical re-intervention and to shed light on the scientific background for selecting the appropriate surgical procedures. Most of them are listed up in the articles of other domains but can be transferred into the field of periodontal and peri-implant plastic surgery.
