Surgical Procedures

There are many new trends in surgical procedures around natural teeth and also around dental implants. The question always remains if the new trends are really better in the final outcome. New developments make only sense when at the end the patients have a benefit out of it. Unfortunately we often have to admit that new tendencies (i.e. immediate implant placement; coronally advanced flap for covering of recessions; socket-seal-surgery, and even more) do not live up to its promise.
In this presentation different modern surgical approaches will be put to the acid test. I am aware that the evaluation of treatment concepts is also a question how critical it has been done. From my understanding we cannot be critical enough otherwise we cannot become better in what we are doing. Therefore, this presentation will be a little bit provocative in some direction.
